Interested in Bringing Open Captioned Films to Your Community?
It's easy. If you are interested in seeing open captioned films in your neighborhood local theatre, call TRIPOD Captioned Films (TCF) at (818) 972-2080. They will work with a local theatre in bringing the movies to you.
If you are a theatre, TCF will coordinate bookings, promotional efforts like posters, artwork, flyers and banners, and put you in touch with local organizations that will help you reach your captioned film audience.
TCF is a non-profit, community outreach project of the TRIPOD Model School in Burbank, CA, a program for Deaf and hard of hearing children and their families. TRIPOD has received support from the entertainment industry since the world premiere of "The Big Chill" in 1982 included a simultaneous screening of an open-captioned (English subtitled) print of the film. TRIPOD Captioned Films has proven to be a natural partner of the school, bringing together the studios, movie theatres and the captioned film audience. The program has grown to 25 captioned films a year in over 200 cities. TCF,s mission is to include deaf, hard of hearing, senior citizens, English as Second Language and Adult Literacy participants into the movie-going experience. There are currently 30-40 million Americans affected by hearing loss who could enjoy a captioned film.
For more information, visit TRIPOD Education (www.tripod.org), call (818) 972-2080 or fax (818) 972-2090.
